Program Information
The Ark provides high-quality care and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, as well as a support system for families. Cooperation, self-expression, self-help and social interaction are stressed among children and caring adults.
In order to accomplish our goals we offer a daily program of experiences which promote growth, well-being, and age-appropriate development of gross and fine motor skills, language skills, cognitive skills, social and emotional skills. These elements encourage positive self-concept, curiosity, engagement and exploration.
Our annual sing-along event invites children to hang the ornaments they’ve made in classroom on an all-school tree. 
Alongside church leadership, we impart age-appropriate Christian stories and lessons. 
We’re blessed with wooded grounds around the church to explore together. 
Fine motor development is integral to many math activities. 
Bubbles are multisensory engagement. 
Preliteracy begins with warm invitations to story. 
Child-sized equipment enables participation. 
Pretend play is fertile ground for learning. 
We partner with a Socceroos coach & host a weekly extracurricular class for ages 2 and up. 
Cause-and-effect activities can be tailored to each age. 
Socio-emotional skills in action.

Staff/Child Ratios
Ratios are significantly better than state requirements. A ratio of one adult to three infants, one adult to six toddlers and one adult to nine preschoolers or better is maintained.
Curriculum
Our daily curriculum is based on developmental theory. Each day is planned to meet the needs of the children within each group, with special attention to the individual interests and abilities of each child. Children enjoy the opportunities to explore and to figure things out by trial and error. The unique responses of each child are valued.
We practice a play-based learning approach, informed by what and how children in our care are actually playing. Open-ended activities are planned in response to staff observations. Lead teachers have one hour every week to prepare a classroom-tailored lesson plan for the coming week.
Staff Training & Support
Our teachers have an early childhood/child development education, or a strong background in child care through previous experience.
All staff have training in CPR and First Aid. Each participates in the STARS program in addition to early childhood workshops and conferences throughout the year.
Our team has a group retreat annually. We all receive on-site professional massages every two months. We love our staff!
Parent-Teacher Conferences between adults happen each Spring to go over ongoing assessment of children in our care.
